Escaping .....

..... to the lakes

Last week was wonderful .....
all four of us packed up and headed for the Lake district.
With everything that has been going on here lately
I had hardly dared to think about our holiday
just in case it didn't happen
but it did ..... we made it
and it was just what we all needed

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this place

We walked ..... A LOT

gazed at the beauty of wild flowers

wore cool walking attire

made time for a little outdoorsy sewing and friendship bracelet making

giggled

made new friends

found time to smell the wild roses

walked some more .....

..... and some more .....

..... and some more .....

skimmed stones
(at which I am rubbish)

Thank you for all of your lovely comments on my last post
I scheduled it for when we were away
it was a treat to come home to all of your kind words.

Boy ..... hasn't it been hot?!
It seems that everyone is loving it
I am wilting
too hot for me
I want to lay on the floor naked
best not though .....

Back soon

BIG love

  2. Oh the Lakes, heavenly. You are so lucky to go in the sunshine, every time I've ever been it has rained, poured, blown a gale. Still gorgeous in the rain mind, not as gorgeous as this looks. xx

  3. Hello Jooles

Thanks for this virtual tour. I've never been to the Lake District but would like to go there. All these gorgeous pics make it look so enticing just got to do it one day. Did you stay in a cottage there?
This is what I call a holiday to relax and have plenty of quality time for oneself and family. Absolutely wonderful!!! I like the look of the locals too.

    keep well

We stayed in a house just outside of Keswick, I am missing it already! If you ever get the chance to go, GO, it is just beautiful.

  4. Your country is so very beautiful Jooles! Love the pictures of your holiday and remind me to our holidays in England, we go there for already four years after another and I think the landscapes, sceneries will never be boring. Love the nature and walking on public foothpaths.

  7. Love these pictures Jooles, the Lake District is very dear to me, as I live close to this neck of the woods ... where is the beach in the last pic, it doesn't look familiar to me?

Glad you had a wonderful time and recharged your batteries.

    1. Hello Claire, what a wonderful area to live!
If i could chose anywhere in the whole world to live it would be a quiet cottage in the lakes ..... Bliss..... who knows, maybe one day .....
The beach is at St. Bees and is on the western coast, apparently Rowan Atkinson went to school there!

  11. Hi Jooles- I am so glad you had such a relaxing time. :)
Incredibly beautiful! I dream of walks like you took . . . over green rolling hills and along peaceful lake sides- our beauty in my area is much more rugged and 'uphill'.
I have never seen a porcupine in all my life- what a handsome critter he is! I think a porcupine would make a lovely companion to your cute owlie friends!
I hope the stress that melted off while you were away will continue to stay off.
    Much love!

  14. Hi Jooles - beautiful pictures as always! Did it take you long to drive there? We live in Hampshire so not too far from you I think. I'd like to find a cottage to stay in and also bring our miniature schnauzer with us.

It took around 6 1/2 hours with 3 stops and we were really lucky with the trafic, so a long drive but so worth it.
